Taiwan Brings 12 Startups to IFA Berlin 2026, Securing New European Partnerships
Taiwan Startup Terrace made its debut at IFA Berlin 2026, held from September 4 to 8, bringing a national pavilion featuring 12 Taiwanese startups across artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and smart healthcare.
The delegation used the major consumer electronics event as a platform to showcase emerging technologies and connect with European buyers, distributors, investors and technology partners. Over the course of the exhibition, the Taiwan pavilion attracted more than 3,000 visitors and resulted in eight signed cooperation agreements with European partners.
Organized by Taiwan Startup Terrace, a government-backed startup hub operating under Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, the delegation represented three key technology areas.
The AI group included Next Integral, Synstream, Deeli AI, Aiplux, VMFi, Alpenglow Tek and Optiqb. The cybersecurity delegation featured Turing Space, Janus Cyber and DeCloak, while smart healthcare companies FREE Bionics and Precise Bigdata completed the lineup.
Taiwanese Startups Forge European Partnerships
Several startups secured partnerships during the event, highlighting the growing commercial opportunities between Taiwan’s technology ecosystem and European markets.
VMFi, developer of its TransDisplay technology for low-latency, multilingual real-time translation, signed distribution and reseller agreements with Germany’s Ryke GmbH and Estonia’s TrueTouch AI OÜ. The company also signed a total of five memoranda of understanding with partners from multiple countries during the event, supporting its expansion into European markets.
Digital identity company Turing Space signed a three-way MoU with Germany’s PolyCrypt and Neuland AI. Its verifiable-credential technology is designed to meet the EU’s eIDAS 2.0 requirements and is already being used by the World Health Organization and more than 600 institutions worldwide.
Meanwhile, DeCloak, which specializes in AI-powered de-identification and image privacy technologies, signed an MoU with Polish robotics platform developer MAB Robotics. The partnership aims to combine MAB Robotics’ robotic and robot-dog platforms with DeCloak’s smart-inspection technology.
These agreements were signed during the pavilion’s opening on September 4 in the presence of Ambassador Gu Rui-Sheng, Representative of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany. Enterprise cybersecurity startup Janus Cyber also secured an additional cross-border partnership during the exhibition.
Taiwan Startups Make Their Mark at IFA Pitch Battle
Taiwan’s delegation also delivered a strong performance in the IFA Pitch Battle.
Out of 93 participating startups, seven companies from Taiwan reached the semifinals. VMFi advanced to the final, becoming the only Taiwanese startup to reach that stage of the competition.
The achievement marked a notable debut for Taiwan Startup Terrace on the IFA stage and demonstrated the competitiveness of Taiwan’s emerging technology companies in an international environment.
Expanding Taiwan-Germany Technology Cooperation
The delegation’s activities extended beyond the IFA exhibition floor. During their visit to Germany, representatives met with organizations and companies including Berlin Partner, Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), Siemens and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
The objective was to build longer-term commercial and innovation relationships between Taiwan and Germany rather than limiting cooperation to a single trade-show appearance.
As part of this effort, Taiwan Startup Terrace hosted Taiwan Roadshow Night at CIC Berlin (Venture Café Berlin) on September 10. During the event, Taiwan Startup Terrace and the campus signed an MoU establishing a framework for reciprocal soft-landing support, shared workspace and resource matchmaking between the two ecosystems.
The evening also featured startup pitches, an introduction to Taiwan’s startup ecosystem and information about a Taiwan-Germany R&D funding program available to European founders.
With its first national pavilion at IFA Berlin, Taiwan Startup Terrace combined startup showcases, business matchmaking and international partnerships to strengthen the presence of Taiwanese technology companies in Europe. The resulting agreements and pitch-competition success underscore the growing potential for Taiwan-Europe collaboration across AI, cybersecurity, healthcare and other emerging technology sectors.
